Hey, i have a question regarding the workflow HVAC in energyPlus:

Is it easier to implement HVAC directly in energyPlus or in openStudio? Is it possible to build HVAC in openStudio and export an IDF file and run the simulation in energyPlus?

Thank you very much!!

Just for information, I'm removing the greetings as is customary on unmet hours (see here and, I'm renaming the question (too vague to understand what's the intent but only looking at the title)

I would say if you are new to EnergyPlus, Openstudio is a little more intuitive when it comes to adding HVAC, so you might want to start there and yes you can export the idf for OS to E+ for running. When you are in OS, go to export and export as an idf. Then open that idf in E+ and you have your E+ file ready to go. - Annie

One small but potentially important addendum. If you subsequently modify the IDF file—either in IDF-editor or a text editor—you won't be able to read it back into OpenStudio. OpenStudio to EnergyPlus HVAC is a unidirectional pipe right now. Although that one direction does 95% of what you need.

I have been using OS for HVAC calculation. For me it is easier to work in OS than E+. It has a graphic interface.

For the record, I believe most if not all EnergyPlus interfaces have graphical HVAC editors at this point. DesignBuilder. AECOSim. Simergy. Sefaira.
