For some areas cooling is only required so that there is no hot water loop. In such case, the fan coil unit in energyplus still requires to input a heating coil as I experienced with Openstudio Application 1.7.2.

I would like to know if there is a method to create cooling coil only fan coil unit.

If the heating coil is left blank, Openstudio Application will give error: Assertion coil failed on line 285 of class openstudio::model::HVACComponent __cdecl openstudio::model::detail::ZoneHVACFourPipeFanCoil_Impl::heatingCoil(void) const in file D:\OSN\src\model\ZoneHVACFourPipeFanCoil.cpp.

If the heating coil is also set but without hot water loop, energyplus will give error: " - Missing required property 'water_inlet_node_name'"

change the heating coil type to electric and turn off the availability schedule.

Thank you for the solution. I did alternatively by setting the boiler pump to 0 flow rate and deleting all the heating schedules for all relevant zones.
