I'm modeling a SFH using point-of-use tankless electric resistance water heater. I saw that in the analysis results, the standard design is using a UEF HPWH, which makes the electric resistance water heater definitely failing the compliance. How is this standard design option selected?

I modeled the same home in CBECC 2022, which standard design adopted a point-of-use water heater.

The Standard Design is selected per the ACM (Alternative Calculation method). In 2019, there was no exception to the UEF 2.0 HPWH in the Standard Design, however in 2022 a point of use electric resistance unit was added as a Standard Design assumption for small additions and new construction <=500 sq.ft.
