contam-energyplus coupling simulation ---- how can i transfer the AHS defined in contam into energyplus

asked Nov 12

updated Nov 12

I use a contam-energyplus co-simulation by the FMU module, But the air handling system with ventilation schedule that i set in the contam cant transfer to Energyplus , which result the ventilation situation is different to the contam settings, Is there any ways to control the HVAC system of energyplus by the Contam schedule? Thanks for any reply

When using ContamFMU for co-simulation, the simple air-handling system flows are determined by EnergyPlus. This is as intended by the developers of ContamFMU. One can use schedules in EnergyPlus to control these flows according to the rules established for EnergyPlus HVAC system models.

One could use other forced-flow elements in CONTAM to drive flows, and these could be controlled via CONTAM schedules.

appreciate for reply! theres another problem, once i use the contam settings, i could only do a constant ventilation without any variation, the speed of inlet nodes was correct, but the schedule i defined in contam just doesnt work properly, so how can i use contam schedules to domain the hvac settings

When using ContamFMU, air handling system flows are not scheduled via CONTAM. They must be managed via EnergyPlus. The system flows will vary (or not) depending on how the system is defined via the EnergyPlus IDF.

If you don't want EnergyPlus to manage these flows, then you may not need co-simulation, and you can simply schedule system flows and zone temperatures.

Examples co-simulation projects are available on the NIST Multizone Modeling website. 3D Exporter examples
