BEopt 2.8 assumes there are several vacation periods throughout the year, per the Building America House Simulation Protocols: May 26-28, Aug 12-18, and Dec 22-25.
I agree that it's pretty confusing. Vacation periods have been removed by default for the upcoming BEopt v3.
