Revision history [back]

When you changed the already existing shading surface type from space to building, the geometry was now defined relative to the building origin and not the space origin. It was probably fine in your initial model .For reference, EnergyPlus supports zone shading, building shading, and site shading. OpenStudio space shading will be converted to EnegyPlus space shading. the only difference between site and building shading, is that site shading is stationary if you change your building rotation, while building shading rotates with the building. As an example if you were going to iterate through rotations of your building, you would want to model adjacent building as site shading, and carefully choose the origin of your building that it will rotate around relative to the site shading objects.
