Usually, given the variable optional workflows for building the idfs in energyplus development it was decided to supply the example files like this so users could also check all the results information, since it is important for interpretation not only the building of the idf also its simulation results, so they could be improved accordingly. Although letting them like this allows users for searching information regarding the results.
It's not a wonderful but also not a bad strategy and since is obvious all inexperienced users at least surely know this, is ok. Cheers EngFranc.
