Including distribution in some form would probably lead to a better model of hybrid ventilation, but it is not absolutely necessary to simulate the distribution system to model hybrid ventilation. Assuming that you've set up the model properly, you should be able to see some of what you probably want to see (but not all, since the "multizone" flows and distribution flows can't interact when there's no distribution representation). Actually, even if you do eventually add a representation of distribution, it's a good idea to see if the model you already have works as desired. As you say, building out the distribution model is a non-trivial time investment and requires additional information.
