The eplusout.err file will have the specific cause of the error. Navigate to it inside the OpenStudio app (see image below) or through the OSM file directory: "osm file name folder" > run > 6-EnergyPlus-0 > eplusout.err

You can also use the Add Output Diagnostics measure and "DisplayAllWarnings" for more detailed descriptions of the errors.

You can also Open the ERR file and search for either "severe" or "fatal" errors, those will be the ones causing the simulation to fail.

I always use the Add Output Diagnostics measure and "DisplayAllWarnings" which will provide provides more detailed descriptions of the errors.any errors I encounter.
