When you say you can't import gbXML into OpenStudio, what exactly is happening. Are you getting an error, or does the resulting model just not look like you expect it to? Make sure you are not trying to open it as if it was an OSM. you need to go to. This link shows you the proper way to import a gbXML in the OpenStudio SketchUp Plugin. You can also import gbXML from the file menu in the stand alone OpenStudio application.

Keep in mind that depending upon the Revit workflow you won't necessarily get a clean gbXML, but it would likely be a better starting point than a DWG/DXF. But if you do need to use a DXF this thread has links to videos on modeling from plans or elevations. The same logic is applicable to using a 3d model as a guide.
