This is still a work in progress, and the first version of the prototype measure will be released later this month (September 2015). Some of the benefits of this new approach include: 1) User convenience for getting the exact model you want quickly, 2) Consistency in the modeling approach across all the prototypes, 3) Most importantly the ability to easily update the prototype models to include additional standards. We're really excited about this new capability, and look forward to feedback from the community once it's published on the Building Component Library.

Update
It took longer than expected, but the DOE Prototype Measure has been published on the BCL and works with OS 1.11.1 and later. The current version of the measure does not yet include Hospital or Outpatient building types - those are still in progress, and the measure will be updated when they're done. Also note that the measure produces good (but not exact) agreement with PNNL's IDF-based prototype models. Models produced with the measure will be fine for general use, but caveat emptor if you're trying to regress results from previous analyses based on the old IDF models. A big thank you to our partners at LBL and ORNL who worked on several of the building types and @aparker who headed up the effort.
