2016-04-29 01:12:39 -0500 asked a question Is there any way to model desiccant de-humidification in Open Studio?

I am attempting to model a desiccant system within open studio. I do not see a direct option to do this. Is there not a way to do this? If not, is there a way to mimic it in open studio?

Thank you. With these two answers I was able to model the blinds. Thanks!

2015-05-01 01:39:12 -0500 asked a question How to model blinds in open studio

Hello,

I am attempting to model some basic blinds for some of my windows in open studio. I have created the blinds material, but I have not been successful at adding them to my windows. I have noticed that you can add shadings controls under extensions ==> user scripts ==> add model elements. But this only allows me to select shading materials and not blind materials. Does anyone know of a way to add blinds to windows?

Thank you

2015-04-26 16:23:22 -0500 asked a question Thermal Space Temperature unaffected by Sensible Cooling of VRF

Hello

I am modeling a single room that is cooled and heated by a VRF system. It has one outdoor unit and is connected to two indoor units that cool and heat the space. I have set up both units so that they begin cooling at 80 degrees F and begin to heat at 68 degrees F. The VRF system does begins cooling when the temperature goes above 80 degrees, but the rate at which the temperature increases seems to be unaffected. This is shown in the pictures below. I am unsure of why this is. Is the cooling capacity not large enough? I am fairly new to energy plus so any advice on how to trouble shoot this issue would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

Thank you for replying. It unfortunately did not improve the results. I have been adjusting the input values for the VRF system and nothing seems to be helping.

2015-04-23 22:16:03 -0500 asked a question Trouble controlling temperatures with VRF System.

Hello,

I am modeling a VRF System with no reheat that has an outdoor unit connected to two indoor units that heat one thermal zone. I believe I have modeled the system correctly to my knowledge, but the temperatures of the thermal zone throughout the year are not regulated well.(picture attached)image description

I have the cooling thermostat schedule set to 80 degrees F and the heating thermostat schedule set to set to 68. The system has the availability schedule always on discrete.

This is my first project with open studio/ energy plus so I am not sure where to start to try and fix this issue.

Thank you

I am just trying to get the kWh. Thank you for the advice!

Yes, I have been able to fix the severe error with the non-convex surfaces. Thank you.

Sorry, I will do that in the future. Yes I amusing Open Studio.

2015-04-12 14:27:24 -0500 asked a question Severe error with non-convex surfaces.

When I run the Energy Plus simulation it comes up with this error. "DetermineShadowingCombinations: There are 3 surfaces which are casting surfaces and are non-convex. * ~~~ * ...Shadowing values may be inaccurate." I am not sure how to resolve this issue and what it means exactly.

2015-04-11 23:08:40 -0500 asked a question Error while running energy plus. Missing Energy+.ini?

I tried running my energy plus open studio model and I get this message and I am not sure what it I am missing. I am new to Open Studio and Energy Plus so it is most likely something obvious.

Thank you.

I don't seem to see an option for this in open studio. Does anyone know of an easy way to do so?

For example, desiccant systems are available in the IDF editor, but not in the open studio plug-in. Is there a way to download these to the open studio model? I am very new to Energy Plus.

None of the HVAC templates have the option of ductless. Is there a way I can model this system in Open Studio? Thank you in advance.
