I am also getting the same error. Just downloaded and installed the latest EnergyPlus -8-4-0 on a macbook pro running OSX El Capitan.

The problem is that the EP-Launch Lite application in 8-4-0 is trying to find the weather files in the EnergyPlus -8-3-0 directory for some reason; which does not exist. Not sure how to fix this.

You can see below that the Launch Lite application is launched from the 8-4-0 folder but the launcher reads 8.3.0 and the error is searching for a folder which does not exist.

As pointed out previously. The command line execution works without any problems.

The example file ShopWithPVandBAttery.idf does PV + electrical storage simulation for a 1 story building divided into 4 exterior and one interior conditioned zones with a return plenum. It is a low energy building with photovoltaic roof and electrical storage. If PV simulation is all you need then this IDF does that job quite well. Not sure how you could account for shading directly. One approach would be to use radiance with E+ and performa a co-simulation using something like BCVTB.

Thanks for the reply. I am one of the developers of MLE+ and am familiar with NREL's setup. I was just hoping if there was a more direct approach and if EnergyPlus already has some IDF example with battery storage and PV included. Though, as you correctly pointed out, it seems like co-simulation is the route to take.

Are there any EnergyPlus example IDF files which allow one to simulate a small-medium size building retrofitted with PV panels and on-site battery storage ? If not, then what might be the easiest way to implement this functionality ?
