2015-05-27 12:55:56 -0500 asked a question Thermal zone geometry

I'm trying to render a thermal zone that is a box with a corner cut out of it. But when I select it, it tries to pick up the entire box. How can I get the selector tool to recognize the geometry that I drew in Sketchup. I seemed to work OK on the other non-regular shapes in the model.

Thanks,

2015-03-30 16:32:17 -0500 answered a question Defrost correction curve

I correct my earlier statement - I don't think its the antisweats - I think it is selecting a defrost system over than OffCycle or Hot Gas (w/o temperature termination).

DLB

FYI, I am working in Open Studio. Is the time termination feature part of OS, or do I need to convert the file to E+?

2015-03-30 16:28:21 -0500 asked a question Defrost correction curve

Has anyone else run into this error with Refrigerated Cases:

Severe ** GetRefrigerationInput: Refrigeration:Case="GLASS DOOR FROZEN FOOD A", invalid Defrost Energy Correction Curve Name not found:

The simulation then crashes.

I could not figure out any way to access or make changes to the field that contains the Defrost Energy Corrective Curve. Right now, it just says "None." Anytime I include a display case with antisweat heater capability this happens, which is kind of strange because defrost and anti-sweats are two different systems.

2015-03-29 01:06:21 -0500 commented answer Restocking Schedules

I checked that - it is being defined as a LinearPowerDensity curve when I open/create the new schedule. Also, I tried exporting the model to an IDF file, and confirmed also that the definition was LinearPowerDensity. However, the refrigerated case object still cannot import the schedule, whether I am in regular view or grid view. All other schedules, the case accepts.

Could this be a bug of some sort in this version? Oh, and the units are correct, too - kg/m/s^3, i.e., Newtons/seconds/meters (Watts per meter). Thanks,

Dan

2015-03-27 14:49:58 -0500 asked a question Restocking Schedules

I created a restocking schedule from the Schedule tab (default, summer peak, and winter peak). The daily values are between 0 and 90 (I'm not sure of the units). I defined the schedule properly when I created it.

I then created an open display refrigeration case, but the case will not accept the restocking schedule (i.e., nothing appears in the field when I try to select it).

What's going on? Have I made an error?

2015-03-26 12:58:18 -0500 asked a question Ground temperatures

I know ground temperatures for my site but not the C- or F-factors. How can I enter the temperatures (1 per month) into OS?

Thanks, Dan

2015-03-20 08:40:01 -0500 asked a question Error List xxxxxxxxxxx

How do I pull up my error list from a failed OS run, i.e., the equivalent of the "Detailed.err" file in traditional EnergyPlus?

Thanks, Dan

2015-03-13 16:24:23 -0500 asked a question Is more than one schedule allowed for a single space?

For example, I am modeling a supermarket. I have one schedule for the patrons and another schedule for the stockers, who come in middle of the day and leave around midnight. Is it possible to model this, and if so, what are the steps?

2015-03-09 09:45:19 -0500 asked a question OpenStudio sketchup geometry being erased

I am having a lot of trouble with my sketchup geometry being erased when, for example, I need to put my work aside for a while. I save both the Sketchup and OSM files before I exit. I am working with a file called Miami 1.

When I try to reimport the OSM file into Sketchup, I get a window that says the following:

"Removing previously linked OpenStudio content.

Open OpenStudio model at C:/users/brillerd/documents/Miami1.osm to restore content."

When I hit OK or try to close the box with the upper right hand corner X, most of my Sketchup geometry is erased!

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

2015-02-26 09:28:47 -0500 commented question Dual path dehumidification unit

Tha Hi Kyle,

Sure, I can describe it. It is an air handler with two pathways, one which is used strictly for dehumidification. When a temperature or humidity condition is reached (as controlled by a set point), Outside Air (OA) will be directed over a dehumidification coil before being mixed with the Return Air (RA). After mixing, all air passes over cooling and heating coils, which are called as necessary to meet the temperature conditions. When the extra dehumidification is not required, the OA mixes directly with the RA and is cooled / heated as necessary. Thanks for your interest! Dan

2015-02-24 08:29:01 -0500 asked a question Dual path dehumidification unit

Has anyone modeled a dual-path unit such as those often found on the roof of a supermarket? Is there an item in the library or BCL, or does it need to be built from its component parts?

Thanks, Dan

2015-02-23 14:59:11 -0500 commented question BCL key problems

Thanks David! It was the trailing space that was doing it. Have a good one, Dan

2015-02-23 13:48:34 -0500 asked a question BCL key problems

I am trying to bring up the BCL through the Components & Measures menu of Version 1.6. I copy my key into the open space but it returns a message that my key is invalid. I think so far as I know, my account is configured correctly.

Who at NREL or elsewhere can help me with this? Thanks.

2015-02-18 13:37:22 -0500 asked a question Building type creation

I am trying to create a supermarket. When I open a new file in the Sketchup plug-in, I create it as a supermarket. However, when I went to assign attributes to spaces, all I was able to access were Office related space types. I did save and reopen the file once during the process. Does that matter?

Thanks,
