2017-03-17 11:12:23 -0500 asked a question EnergyPlus schedules and daylight savings time

EnergyPlus automatically interprets schedules as being in local time, and therefore shifting with daylight savings time. This is usually the correct occupant-driven behavior. However, there are situations when it would be more natural to input a schedule in standard time. For example, the California TDV (or any other time series schedule derived from grid interactions) is more naturally expressed as a basic standard-time time series. Might EnergyPlus add a new flag or Schedule object to allow for this kind of input? Alternatively, OpenStudio could (or maybe already does?) support this modeler-friendly feature.

2016-02-18 16:42:44 -0500 commented answer Script to create measure xml from measure json?

Looking at a measure with both formats, it looks like that would get me part of the way there, but not all the way to an XML that actually fits the measure XML schema ... What I am really hoping is that Dan has a script sitting somewhere ...

2016-02-18 12:08:08 -0500 commented answer In EMS/ERL, does Holiday == 3.0 always correspond to the design days?

Thanks! It looks like (Holiday == 2) || (Holiday == 3) will pick out both design days ..

2016-02-17 17:50:24 -0500 asked a question In EMS/ERL, does Holiday == 3.0 always correspond to the design days?

Going a bit farther, the EMS/ERL documentation lists

Holiday 0 if not. 1.0, 2.0, etc., for each type of holiday in model

but I do not know where to go/if there is a place to go to see what each of the non-zero values means. Do they have a set meaning in EnergyPlus, or is the meaning model specific? Also, are both design days (summer and winter) assigned to Holiday == 3.0?

2016-02-16 17:09:57 -0500 asked a question Script to create measure xml from measure json?

I have some measures that are equipped with measure.rb and measure.json, but no measure.xml. Is there a script somewhere I can run to populate a new xml for the measure based on what is in the json (and then I'll be happy to fill in the rest)?

2015-04-16 10:01:41 -0500 commented answer Is there a way to associate constant design day values with an EnergyPlus Schedule:File?

Thanks for documenting the workaround and adding the issue!

2015-04-03 15:54:30 -0500 asked a question Is there a way to associate constant design day values with an EnergyPlus Schedule:File?

I am generating random-signal schedules, which seems like a good fit for the Schedule:File object, except that I don't see a way to specify constant winter and summer design day values when using that object. Is there a workaround for this, or is it a feature to be implemented sometime soon?

P.S. I just remembered that I am going to switch over to hard-sizing, such that this is not an issue, but I am still submitting the question because it may be of general interest.
