2023-05-10 17:47:10 -0500 marked best answer Is it possible to open existing CBECC-Com model in Sketchup OpenStudio Plugin?

I have an existing CBECC-Com model that was created with the IESVE plugin, but has convex surfaces errors. I think it would be easier to split these surfaces in SketchUp, but when I try to import the SDD XML file created by IES or CBECC-Com, SketchUp/OpenStudio gives me a generic error saying it can't open the file. I seem to be able to open the osm file that CBECC-Com creates for the propsed and baseline runs, but I don't think that helps me.

I know that I can split up the spaces directly in IESVE, but the search for non-convex surfaces in the OpenStudio SketchUp plugin makes it easier.

Latest version of everything but free sketchup (so I belive OS 1.7, SU 2015, and CBECC v3b), though since I started in IES it was technically in CBECC-Com v3, but I had no problem opening the IES generated xml in the latest version of CBECC-Com directly, but I couldn't get either of those to open in SketchUp.

2023-01-10 16:29:29 -0500 marked best answer How are ASHRAE design mean coincident variables calculated?

I’m having some trouble finding documentation on how this is done. I’ve gone through the HoF but I couldn’t find much on specific methods.

For example what I’m trying to get at: let’s say that the 0.4% condition temperature somewhere is 90F. In the ordered distribution of temperatures there are sure to be more than one hour in the measurement period that is 90, so which coincident WB, for example, is chosen? I assume it must be the max, or an average or something.

Thanks

2022-12-02 11:05:03 -0500 marked best answer OpenStudio/Elements error on EPW with missing line break after last line

I've just found out that if an EPW file does not have a line break after the 8760th hour, OpenStudio and Elements have an issue (you can see in Elements that it's just missing the last row, and OpenStudio says there is an issue reading the middle of the weather file). EnergyPlus and IES-VE do not seem to have this problem. I'm just curious if there is something in the definition of an EPW file that requires this last line break, or it's potentially something that could be fixed in OS? (it's abviosuly not a big deal for a single file, but has broader implications for me)

Thanks

Does anyone have the exe (64bit ideally) installation files for this version, or can someone on the development team put them back up on github? It seems to just be missing from 8.6, though I know it was there a few months ago.

2022-01-07 10:15:31 -0500 marked best answer E+ Output:Table:Annual without Summary Report?

I'm hoping to just pull some annual peak loads out of some models, and have it configured in an annual table, but the table file doesn't seem to be created unless something is also set in the Output:Table:SummaryReports. Is that correct? I can't find anything in the documentation that shows that the annual report has any dependencies.

In case it matters, this is part of a simulation of several million files, and so keeping the results files as small as possible is important.

2021-08-31 11:04:31 -0500 marked best answer EnergyPlus Air to Water Heat Pump

Since E+ still doesn't have this object (unless I'm missing something?) we've borrowed the method from Sefaira here to use a little EMS code to calculate an efficiency, and then assign that energy to an exterior light. I'm assuming they chose an exterior light because it was pretty simple and many building don't have them modeled, but it's causing some issues with the meter files as the boiler energy still shows up (and in this case I can't just remove that variable, since I need the output meters to be consistent throughout many models).

So my questions:

1 does anyone have any better/more direct methods of modeling air source HPs?

2 if not, is there a way to either zero out the boiler energy via EMS, or just adjust it to not use the exterior light at all? From digging around it seems like it's not really possible to just change the energy of an object like this (for obvious reasons I'm sure).

Thanks
