2019-06-12 04:34:04 -0500 marked best answer Something wrong with my HVAC --> Unreasonable heating consumption results

Hey everyone, I recently faced a problem that I tried to fix with some users, but I didn't provide them with enough informations which was confusing. So I am posting this question to explain my issue from the beginning.

I am modelling a residential building of 12 flats whose HVAC should be as follows: District heating for both water usage and floor heating + Heat recovery ventilaion

So these 3 screenshots show the hot water system configuration: image description

As you can see below it is a mixed water heater but the fuel type is District Heating as suggested by @egillmor (otherwise the ''DHW usage will show up as heating end use rather than water system end use.'') image description

image description

The rest of the screenshots will show the HR ventilation and radiant floor loop

image description

Following the instructions of @MatthewSteen in this post I did this : image description

The simulation ran successfully, but the District heating consumption chart was illogical, as shown below: the consumption is more or less the same from April to November and it is also low in January, while it should be low fi the summer and gradually increasing during the winter. image description

Same problem the the Demand image description

Does anyone have any idea about what is wrong with my HVAC that had led to that result ??

I hope I made it clear , but if there is any information missing, please let me know.

I would appreciate a lot your help ! :)

2018-09-16 17:07:59 -0500 marked best answer How to implement one component (CHP unit) for two plant loops ?

Hi !

I am supposed to simulate a building with only one CHP unit (15kw), but it seems like I need to implement 2 different CHP because I have 2 plantloops as shown below:

image description image description

when I tried to use just one CHP in e+, the simulation failed saying that there is one component that has different nodes. So instead of using one CHP with a power of 15kW, I am using two units of 7.5kW each, but the results won't be accurate, as it should be.

Does anyone you have any suggestion that could help me with this ?

NB: I used openstudio at the beginning but it turned out that I can not realize this kind of design (MicroCHP or MicroTurbine unit) with OS, even if it is in the loop in the images above, but it is not taken into account during the simulation and does not appear in the results, so I had to export the file into IDF file and I then I added the MicroTurbine.
