2014-12-29 12:39:11 -0500 | asked a question | I want to know how to change directions in openstudio? I have a building plan made in legacy open studio, and I want to experiment simulations(daylight) having 12 x 12 m room. Simulations are:
For each time I need to make geometry in legacy open studio or can it happen by changing north direction? If yes, how? |
2014-12-25 12:26:57 -0500 | asked a question | In Open studio legacy model where is north, south, east , west directions? In a room 12 m x 12 made in legacy open studio plugin, i want to make only one window in south direction? Please help me to know which direction is south in open studio legacy plugin? |
2014-11-29 00:34:33 -0500 | asked a question | How to read Energy plus illumination map? I have placed one window on south side of 12 X 12 model in open studio legacy (sketchup plugin). And i have placed a 10 x 10 illuminance grid covering the entire plan of the model. After running simulations in energy plus i get Illuminancemap csv file. I would like to know the results (point in time illuminance) is showing exact values as placed in the model? That is values (lux) on top represent near north facade and values(lux) on bottom represent points near south facade? |
2014-11-26 05:46:42 -0500 | asked a question | BSDF simulations possible in diva4rhino ? Hi, I have a window which is specific (bsdf) and see how it impacts the daylighting inside a room. I would like to assign material to the window and run simulation in diva4rhino? Presently its a simple room with window on one side of the wall. So, I have a BSDF(.xml file) using lbnl window 7.2. and want to assign material and see its results using a graphical interface. So, can diva4rhino help me in this ? or suggest other interface? Thanks in advance. |

2014-11-23 23:49:53 -0500 | asked a question | How to get Useful daylight Illuminance ? I have an idf file which has bsdf data of cfs system. When I run this idf file in energy plus it gives me point in time lux values annually at a point. I want to use these values and calculate useful daylight illuminance. I hope this makes sense? |

2014-11-11 08:17:56 -0500 | commented answer | what are the parameters for selection of city for investigating a newly developed daylight device on daylight performance? @Neal : That is exactly my question: Why I am selecting Delhi,Ahmedabad and Chennai. 1. Different latitudes (Delhi: 28.6100° N, 77.2300° E,Ahmedabad: 23.0300° N,72.5800° E,Chennai13.0839° N, 80.2700° E) 2 Change in sun's inclination But I want to understand if I am using a newly developed daylight device, how will i compare this for all the three latitude cities. there should be something common in weather data. |

2014-11-07 12:09:19 -0500 | commented answer | How can I calculate daylight autonomy from energy plus -Illuminance output (that is point in time)? Thanks for the answer. Actually I have an .idf file (which has CFS data). This file generates illuminance map output from energy plus. I understand the concept of DA, but to calculate it manually is a tidious job..I want to know if i can directly use this .idf file in any other tool/software to calculate DA? |

Actually I need a tool that takes the illuminance map output and computes the daylight autonomy values. Or if any one can help me to use excel (or equivalent) to compute the autonomy values. |
