2022-02-07 18:03:18 -0500 | marked best answer | Can I manipulate a Material:RoofVegetation object through a python plugin? The "Material:RoofVegetation" has internal parameters such as Height, LAI (Leaf Area Index), RStomata, etc. Some of these parameters will change in a multi-week simulation. For example, the plants will grow in height and the leaf area will increase (or decrease by if leaves are shed). There are good relations to predict trajectories of these parameters using the solar radiance, zone temperature and humidity history. I would like to write a plugin where I monitor and possibly change the Can I do similar with NOTE : I initially thought that this would be possible _if and only if_ I can access these variables as "EnergyManagementSystem:Actuator" objects. But I now do not believe this is true. The available |

2021-12-22 21:49:33 -0500 | marked best answer | Example file runs only on two design days. Why? I am running one of the example files: AirflowWindowsAndBetweenGlassShades.idf. The simulation produces results only for the two design days specified in the IDF file. The file has no _SimulationControl_ object. I also could not see any object in it that controls the simulation parameters in another way. I specify the outputs as The outputs in the CSV file are only for the two design days (48 rows). I provide a full weather file that I use with my other simulations with no problem. What could it be in this example IDF file that instructs the simulation to run only for design days. I repeat, it is an EP example file. I only changed the output list. I run the simulation using the python API and this is the output I get in spyder: Would anyone be able to tell me why EP does not do an annual simulation for this IDF example file? |

2021-11-30 21:38:10 -0500 | marked best answer | PythonPlugin examples do not work with runtime API EP comes with a number of Pythonplugin examples (IDF file + python script). I can run them with EP-Launch. But when I try to run them using the API, I get an error. I run them as follows: The idffile argument in the above code is the example file provided with the EP package. I tried two:
I have no problem running the normal example files (e.g. AbsorptionChiller.idf). But when I try the plugin examples, I get the following error in the err file: This implies to me that the Python API does not work with Plugins. On the other hand, I have seen nothing in the documentation that suggests this might be case. Am I doing something wrong? |
