The IDF file I am using was developed based on Phoenix's TMY3 epw, stat, and ddy files, and therefore Upon checking the epw file I have, there are several headers including For your reference: I will only use epw file for an annual run, and no ddy file will be used. |

I am expecting to use this in both Windows and Linux so RunEPlus.bat might not be an option. |

Is there any way we can directly modify IDF (like output meter) in the command line? My understanding is that the functions we can use in the command line are rather simple. |

I am planning to use the residential prototype building model listed here for some simulations in New York. But based on the description "... which is then simulated across 16 climate locations for each edition of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), the idf for climate zone 4A seems to be developed for Baltimore only. My question is can I use this 4A prototype to simulate residential buildings in other locations in the same climate zone? Or it has to be Baltimore? Thank you. |

2021-05-06 01:19:37 -0500 | marked best answer | How to calculate total space heating/air conditioning in EP? Hi everyone. I am using EnergyPlus to calculate actual space conditioning load for the entire building (facility). The IDF file I am using is one of the prototypes from here (https://www.energycodes.gov/developme...). I know we can add new outputs in "Output:Meter" for IDF file in IDF Editor, but the available meter options do not include total space heating energy or total AC energy. For example, based on mtd file, the energy use for cooling should include supply fans, pumps, and cooling coil, but the option "Cooling:Electricity" only considers cooling coil. Other options such as "Fans:Electricity" includes fans for both heating and cooling, which is impossible to separate heating fans from cooling fans. Is there any option we can use to output total energy use separately for space heating and air conditioning? Thank you. |
