Hi David, I was looking at the meassure and theres this value for the generator Rated Electric power ouput "20000" do you know in which units is this value?

Hi, i think you need to create the space and asign a thermal zone to it, that way that would be your plenum.

Hi Dan i would like to know if you have the source of the electric plug load source values that are on the spreeadsheet.

2015-04-06 17:19:26 -0500 asked a question Set Skylight to RoofCeiling Ratio?

I'm working on a warehouse project that is going to use dayligth as a ECM and 12% of the roof ceiling is going to be skylight. I would like to know if theres a plugin or an option to model the skylight's pretty much like the "Set Window to Wall Ratio Plugin" or if theres another option instead of doing one by one? as you can see I have a long way to go.

image description C:\fakepath\Captura.PNG

I need to create around 144 skylights due to the curve of the roof ceiling and I always avoid copy anything when it comes to sketch up in my expirience I end up with a lot of errors.

2015-03-26 08:36:55 -0500 marked best answer OpenStudio, U-Factor maximum value for simple glazing?

I'm trying to create on the "simple glazing systems window material" a material that have the same U-factor for the skylight with curb, glass,% of roof with the assembly of U-factor of 1.98 Btu/ft2.h.R for a Semiheated Space as specified on ASHRAE 90.1-2007 for Climate Zone 3A but for some reason doesn't let me pass 1.2 for I-P or 6.81 for SI.

Its there a maximum value for the U-Factor to create a simple glazing system or its bug a of my OS? Because every time that I try to change my U-factor it resets.

2015-03-20 10:20:18 -0500 answered a question what should set to get cooling load value in OS

Hi, This playlist form the NREL youtube chanel help me alot when I start using OS.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...

Most of the time I autosize my system first and do a couple of engineer checks to make sure that my people, lightning, equipment, schedules etc... have some consistent values; then after i run my model on the HVAC Systems TAB and then on the right side of the UI (user inerface) when you select a piece of equipment you could edit and imput the values that you need.

I hope this helps you.

Good to know I'm still working with sketch up 8, I'm not a big fan of the newer versions.

2015-02-10 07:44:09 -0500 asked a question Should I keep my version of OpenStudio up-to-date, and should I keep old versions?

I just read that the guys form Group14 and NREL have added some new Measures to the BCL but the thing is that this new measures required the latest version of OpenStudio. I'm still working with the 1.4 version by the way.

Should I have my OpenStudio always up to date and never go back to my previous versions or should I keep my previous versions just in case?

2015-01-26 09:28:46 -0500 commented answer Os missing measure

Thanks David :D, I'm always careful whit my models and try to be very organized with the routes of each model to avoid this kind of stuff. I don't know what happen with this one.

2015-01-26 08:51:12 -0500 asked a question Os missing measure

Hey guys,

For some reason my OS keeps send me and error message telling me that the measure that I'm using is been executed from some random location on my local disk. The folder that OS tells me that the measure is located is empty and i though that maybe i was going to lose my project D: because i cant delete the measure or run the model.

I copy the entire code on a new .osm file and I could save most of my work but I lose the measure and now I have to re write it. I don't know the reason behind this, any ideas or advice on how to solve this?

PS: This is what happens when I try to Use the measure tab https://www.dropbox.com/s/kkyc5710j38...

2014-12-15 16:27:40 -0500 commented answer PAT or OS results?

i change the construction materials and lpd, im was trying to create these inputs as a measure so i don't have to create a second OSM file for every single project but i didn't have time to finish them before my deadline. That's why i copy my baseline and the just change the inputs on the proposed file and then run it when the natural ventilation measures that i have.

Thanks for your advice for my next project i will try to just apply the measures as a design alternative.

Regards,Julian

2014-12-15 15:13:37 -0500 asked a question PAT or OS results?

Hi guys,

The way that I run most of my models is creating a baseline file and a proposed file on OS since I'm not that good writing or creating measures to work with a single file, then i took both files and compare them on PAT to check the EUI and energy savings.

I notice that when i run my proposed model on OS i get some results but when i run it on PAT as an alternative design For my baseline I get a completely different results, what I'm thinking is that PAT is not carrying my measures.

The measures that Im using are some natural ventilation measures and an utility measure.
I'm using OS and PAT Version 1.4.0 since is a project that i have a while ago.

which of these results are more reliable, the PAT ones or the OS ones? is there a way to check that PAT is carrying the measures that im using on OS?

Thanks, Julian.

2014-11-10 13:52:56 -0500 answered a question After intersecting the entire model and surface matching, only a few spaces interior spaces show up green. What's going on?

Sometimes I have this same problem and some surfaces doesn't match because I'm using some complex geometry on the model, you could use the Open Studio Inspector Tool (is like a magnificent glass whit a cube inside) to match the surfaces that you need, it could take some time but makes the job done :D.

Julian.
