DesignBuilder is very visual and easy to use, you can run the complete simulation without export the file to EnergyPlus, with detailed HVAC system you can have a template for the 8 systems - baseline Appendix "G",the HVAC and building 3D models are simulated simultaneously to ensure the dynamic interaction between the building and systems is treated accurately.
Comprehensive Ground Source Heat Pump, Underfloor air distribution, Dedicated outside air systems, and other systems have been added recently to version 4.

I found using Detailed HVAC System Module ( apart from compact or simple HVAC system) in DesignBuilder describe the HVAC system components graphically via system schematic diagram. This is very close to template HVAC systems in OpenStudio but with more powerful and flexible interface.

ASHRAE Handbook of HVAC Systems and Equipment Chapter 4 is a good reference to all HVAC Systems, thanks for the reference.

Are there any documents illustrating the HVAC systems in Appendix G?! It will be helpful to engineers and Architects to analyze the graphics and diagrams rather than narration.

The ASHRAE 90.1 user manual has a numerous illustrations, however.

DesignBuilder v4.1 provides the functionality required for LEED and ASHRAE 90.1 modelling but is missing some enhanced features such as automatic baseline building creation, automatic simulation of the 4 rotations and a full set of LEED-specific report outputs.
