2019-05-27 16:16:01 -0500 marked best answer .xml creator broken in PAT 2.8.0

PAT's .xml creator for results displays zeroes for annual electricity_peak_demand for all runs, as shown below: image. I was able to verify this by reproducing it across 2 different models in 2 different PATs. These values are non-zero in the .htm file. Anybody else having the same issues, and have found a quicker fix, other than manually getting this value from the .htm and replacing the 0's?! We submit these results to our local utility's rebate programs' website, and have reverted back to OS 2.7.0 since this is a blocker for our workflow...

2018-10-19 11:40:05 -0500 marked best answer Electric demand costs based on daily peak kW values

I am trying to use a rates structure which calculates costs for energy and demand using daily kWh and daily peak kW values. I was able to create a UtilityCost:Tariff object, with a real time pricing schedule which references a Schedule:Compact object or a Schedule:File object.

From my understanding, this could potentially calculate the energy charges (based on kWh) based on the schedule charges. Is there a way to do the same based on daily peak kW? From reading the I/O reference in energyplus, it looks like I can't apply a rate structure based on the daily peak kW, as the UtilityCost:Tariff and all the different UtilityCost:Charge: objects are based on a monthly demand structure. Is this right? Or am i missing something? Additionally, any tips/tricks where I could make this work will also be appreciated! Thanks.

2018-03-29 17:17:42 -0500 marked best answer Custom:Meter results displayed in eplustbl.htm?

I am adding a Meter:Custom object to my .osm file through an energyplus script. This particular meter would get the "Cooling Coil Total Cooling Energy" from the required Coil:Cooling:DXSingleSpeed objects. I am successfully able to inject the meter object into the idf. However, I was wondering if there was a way to make the output of this meter, i.e., a cumulative of the Cooling Coil Total Cooling Energy for the specified Coil:Cooling objects, get displayed in my eplusout.htm file?
From the Energyplus I/O reference, I understand I have to add a "Output:meter, 'my_custom_meter_name', Timestep;" line to my idf file, and call this meter in an Output:Table:Monthly report? I am just curious if this will work, or if there is another simpler method of doing this? Thanks,

2017-04-04 17:43:36 -0500 asked a question Coil:WaterHeating:Desuperheater methods not executing correctly

Apologies in advance, if this is not a method error, but a script error. I was trying to add a Coil:WaterHeating:Desuperheater which collects heat from a Coil:Cooling:DX:SingleSpeed and rejects it to a WaterHeater:Mixed object, per the EnergyPlus IO reference for this object. This object is present in the Openstudio 1.14 sdk documentation.

I used user inputs to choose the WaterHeater and the CoolingCoil required, and used the addToHeatRejectionTarget method to add the OS:WaterHeater:Mixed as the rejection target, and the setHeatingSource method to add the required Coil:Cooling:DX:SingleSpeed as the heating source. The script executes properly (Apply Measures Now), as shown. The Water Inlet/Outlet Nodes have been attached from the OS:WaterHeater:mixed selected, and the Heating Source Name has also been assigned. However, when I run the simulation, I get a severe error saying that the Heating Source Name has not been translated into the idf (image).

This makes me believe that it's an OS internal issue. Is that right? Or is there another way/pseudo code through which this can be fixed? Or do I have to insert this object directly in the idf using an Eplus measure?
