2017-03-16 17:07:18 -0500 asked a question OpenStudio: Outdoor Air Controls

I am modeling multifamily units that use a PTHP with a decoupled constant volume outdoor air fan. The outdoor air is always on except for an upper outdoor temperature limit at 100F and a lower limit at 20F. There is also an RH sensor mounted outdoors to shut the system off at >55% RH.

I'm having some troubles setting this up. I can get close but haven't figured out how to include all the set points.

If I include the OA on the PTHP then I don't have much control over the set points.

Using the "natural ventilation" component gets close and allows me to set max/min temperatures but does not address the humidity sensor. It also does not include the air on the outdoor air on the model results page.

It looked like I may be able to use a unit ventilator component but I'll have to set it so there is no heating or cooling, as there is no unconditioned component, but that also doesn't include RH, only enthalpy.

I tried to create the fan system in the system builder but it will not accept the humidity setpoint manager, though it will take the temperature setpoint managers.

The "follow OA temp" manager is close but it works off of humidity ratio rather than RH

Any suggestions on how I can make this work?

2017-03-10 17:11:11 -0500 asked a question OpenStudio: Editing and Removing HVAC

Is there a script, a measure, or a trick to quickly removing HVAC equipment from a model? I tried removing it through text editing the OSM but it caused an error in OS.

I'm working on a mulitfamily building with 161 dwelling units and about 100 dwelling unit thermal zones. For my baseline I've added the PTHP directly to Zone Equipment rather than using an air loop. To delete all of them I went through and clicked each and hit the X button to delete it, but that was very time consuming as there was about a 2 second pause between each click while the PC worked on it. Any tips on a quicker way to do this in the future?

Is there a way to copy the PTHP (or other equipment) in the library? I'd like to create some of my own equipment templates.

2016-12-14 22:14:58 -0500 asked a question OS - Heat a Space but do not Include Energy Needed into Model?

I have a multifamily building built on a podium over retail. I am not modelling the retail energy use but I would like to make the retail space conditioned so as not to negatively affect the HVAC loads in the units touching the retail. How would I go about doing this?
