2017-07-05 09:39:43 -0500 marked best answer Adding field to Fan coil unit inputs

I am using v1.14 and trying to model a Fan coil unit with fan operating on a schedule- unfortunately, the osm file does done have supply air fan operating mode field that makes it relevant to operate the unit at that schedule and cycle it per demand at other hours. It is only operating as either run as constant(24X7) or cycling it on demand(OA cycles as well!!!!). How can I get this to work? The following text is from energy plus i had edited to make it work. I prefer to stay in the open studio platform inorder to run parametrics using PAT. Please help!!!!

2017-03-21 12:59:12 -0500 commented answer replacing osm geometry changes from one file to another

@David, thank you! I tried the merge spaces by deleting the spaces and merging those spaces. The only setback is the the space to zone linkage is gone. Given my scenarios, this worked out to be the least time consuming solution. I needed to keep everything associated with zone the same- baseline systems configuration was already in place.

Create Baseline model is a great resource, but I cannot use it because I need to evaluate a measure by measure analysis(Lighting, Ext wall, Roof etc). It would be great if the measure had components split up- like apply lighting only or HVAC only et

2017-03-21 10:25:48 -0500 asked a question replacing osm geometry changes from one file to another

Hi All, I have created a baseline model and proposed model in open studio. As usual, I have had to change geometry in the tool and am trying to match get the changes done in the baseline model too. Since, I have used the same parent file- same space names, thermal zone names, i hoped that copying the changes would be easy enough. I tried using import envelope and idf measure, but the zone equipment seems to have lost its association and crashes when the thermal zone or plant loop tabs are selected. Is there an alternate merge solution to this?

You should be able to find most of your questions answered in this documentation-http://bigladdersoftware.com/epx/docs/8-6/input-output-reference/. Open studio v1.14 uses Energy plus version 8.6 and uses same terminology as well.

2016-09-15 12:31:55 -0500 commented answer Free cooling module on Chillers(Open Studio)

Thank you Annie. Just to confirm- I believe in this approach you don't need the component override nodes since the control is CoolingSetpointOnOff. These inputs are only triggered when CoolingSetpointOnOffWithComponentOverride gets choosen. I do not have a chiller node on the condenser side(Air cooled chiller). So, the control type is restricted to CoolingSetpointOnOff. This strategy works fine in january but does not trigger even when the loop input to oat is ~25 F delta in december. This makes me think that this is not working as expected! In summation, works only10% of the potential hours!
