Even if you do not precool,you would need a 100% efficient device.

For simple buildings and Legacy Open Studio plugin, I have done this: In the sketchup file, I creat a new energy plus zone, and simply copy the whole building to the new zone. Once I am sure everything is in the new zone, I delete the original drawing and save as... new name.idf Hope it helps

Ideal Load Air System is a concept totally equivalent to purchased air. Check the input output reference manual. You can use the HVACTemplate objects for convenience:

• HVACTemplate:Zone:IdealLoadsAirSystem
• HVACTemplate:Thermostat

Or the ZoneHVAC:IdealLoadsAirSystem directly.

THe input output Reference handbook can be useful. This is described under 1.13.10 DaylightingDevice:Shelf.

It is just plain ACII text, you should be able to open with any text editor, or if you use Windows, the notepad is good enough. You can also open with a spreadsheet program so you can make any calculations. Good Luck!

Do you have internal gains? Heat flow from internal gains going to the outside is retarded by such big thicness, as well as external heat flow does.

I have had this problem and I was told that there is not yet a plugin for SU that works with E+ 8.4 or 8.5. What I do is to create the model in E+ and then open in SU just to check geometry, but do not save it in su as idf. But my projects are smaller than yours.

Maybe the path for the IAM file is not correctly set in the "External Files" tab of the proforma.

I think you could split the indoor zone into two zones, divided in the middle by two walls. 1) The thick wall, 2) An air wall.

There are few vesions of FORTAN compilers that can be useful. For reasons unknown to me, many fortran compilers won' t work. I have used compaq visual fortran (CVF) and worked fine for me. Unfortunately, I think CVF is not longer distributed. Try to find a computer that has CVF to compile your component.

The U value takes into the account the film coefficients on the outside and the inside. For complex walls and roofs, with thermal bridges, there is a publication of ASHRAE that lists numerous structures with their U values, sorry I dont have the reference at hand.

You need to create a titled surface in "shading: building" and link this surface in " generator:photovoltaic "

I have had this problem a few times. My file was located too deep in the folder structure, and/or the names of files or directory were too long. Try relocating/renaming your idf. That worked for me, hope it does for you.
