2016-07-05 17:36:52 -0500 | asked a question | less outdoor air flow rate, increased gas consumption hello, I have a 100% OA HVAC system. When I change the min OA flow rate to a small value and make maximum flow rate autosized in controller:outdoor air object, somehow I get increased gas consumptipn. I couldn't find a reason why its happening because with less OA, system should use more return air so there should be gas saving especially in winter months. Thank you Elvin |
2016-06-21 16:46:20 -0500 | asked a question | simulation duration change after adding DHW loop Hello, I have a question regarding to the simulation duration. Adding domestic hot water loop and related equipments takes duration from 11 min to 40 min. Anyone knows the reason of this drastic change and how to improve? Thank you Elvin |

2016-05-17 18:10:39 -0500 | asked a question | free cooling in winter Hello, I'm trying to model free cooling which should be controlled by outdoor air temperature. Thus, I assigned an Outdoor Air Reset to condenser water loop I created a schedule which has 0 for 1st rule and 1 for 2nd rule but it doesnt have any impact in the result. How can I make free cooling work? Thank you Best Elvin |
2016-04-21 16:36:34 -0500 | commented answer | negative impact of demand control ventilation Yes sure I already did that but what i mean its not possible to make the system control air flow rate (proportion flow rate) by considering occupancy schedule and CO2 levels. I actually found out that demand control ventilation saves when its used with economizer. Especially with differential enthalpy type for climate region like 3A. |
2016-04-21 00:00:51 -0500 | asked a question | negative impact of demand control ventilation Hello, I'm trying to model demand control ventilation in open studio but because CO2 levels and system outdoor air method cannot be adjusted, the outputs are not how they re expected. On the other hand, I tried to add those missing inputs in energy plus via idk editor but still dcv does not provide any energy savings. Even though fan consumption is decreased after implementing dcv, somehow heat rejection and pump energy consumption goes up so in total there is more electricity consumption observed. Is there a way to debug this problem? Thank you Elvin |
2016-04-12 18:29:06 -0500 | answered a question | Coefficient 2 of the Part Load Performance Curve input range Yeah I'm aware of the default values but my question is how much I can change it. Thank you Elvin |
2016-04-12 09:13:35 -0500 | asked a question | Coefficient 2 of the Part Load Performance Curve input range I'm wondering if anyone knows the input range for "Coefficient 2 of the Part Load Performance Curve" for variable speed headered pumps. |
2016-04-04 09:17:04 -0500 | asked a question | RunawayPlantTemps Failure Hello, My model has water to air heat pump mostly for cooling and single duct terminal units provide heating to each zone. Somehow I'm getting failure after 2hr 10 min as "CheckForRunawayTemps: Simulation terminated because of run away plant temperatures, too hot. Does anyone have a similar experience? Thank you Elvin |
