2016-03-10 22:40:17 -0500 | commented answer | Change building location measure in PAT I was trying for the parametric sweep. I observed the same behaviour as I now read about in the open issue - all alternatives run with original weather file. I will have to gum up the courage to install the analysis spreadsheet. Thanks very much for your feedback. |
2016-03-10 02:32:47 -0500 | commented answer | Change building location measure in PAT Still no joy. Perhaps I am doing something silly with the set up of the PAT project. I can't ignore the warning because it says the weather file location will be used and the weather file location is the same as the baseline; i.e it hasn't changed the weather file which is what I am trying to achieve. How does PAT differ from OS? Why would it work in OS but not PAT? I'm not using a relative directory but an absolute one. But i dont think thats the problem because the measure seems to run ok in PAT, the intitial condition and final condition output are what I expect. |

2016-03-07 00:42:28 -0500 | commented question | Modelling a Low Temperature Radiant Floor hard to believe that your errors are random. The error message you've posted suggests two specific itesm worth checking 1. Have you defined the weather file ? 2. The message about degenerate surfaces seems incomplete. What does the full error message say ? Have you created any surfaces in an unusual way? i.e manually edited vertices? |
2016-03-06 04:45:11 -0500 | asked a question | Change building location measure in PAT The Change Building Location measure is doing as advertised just fine in my installation of OpenStudio 1.10 I am hoping to use it in the Parametric Analysis Tool, but so far I am having no joy; The EnergyPlus warnings from the PAT output reveal that the Location Object and Weather File Location are in conflict. Looks as though the conflict is resolved by falling back to the Baseline Weather File. I've tried a few different weather files and host folders. Any suggestions or solutions would be most appreciated |

2016-02-06 02:15:12 -0500 | asked a question | Water fixture flow rate per person I would like to model a hot water system in OpenStudio. The Water Fixture (Load) Definition seems to be the place for me to enter the peak demand and set fractional schedules. The definition requires Peak Flow Rate in cubic metres per second. I would like to set the flow rate proportional to occupant density. Any guidance on this would be appreciated. Is there a measure for it ? Are there any fundamental issues with that approach ? |

2015-12-10 09:06:48 -0500 | asked a question | Adding airloop to Rooftop VAV with Reheat system Similar question to Packaged Rooftop VAV w/Reheat I am trying to add an additional airloop to a packaged VAV with Reheat system. My intention is to add another AHU and connect it to the chilled water loop and also the hot water loop. New airloop setup is no worries until I add an AirTerminal Single Duct VAV Reheat object. This AirTerminal object references a hot water coil by name. The name of that coil is the one and same making its self well known in the .err That hot water coil is not visible under My Model and Library lists, which stymies my intuition to drop it on the Hot Water Loop I've tried a few things
Question time. Is the basic idea sound ? i.e if you wanted to have a few AHUs on a chilled water and hot water loop, is this a reasonable approach ? Why is the hot water coil referenced by the AirTerminal not visible, drag and droppable ? Is there a measure for that ? |

2015-12-10 02:34:00 -0500 | answered a question | Modelling outdoor corridors and open air areas in openstudio I'd recommend modelling these 'outdoor' spaces in the same way you would 'indoor' spaces. You say the top floor is mostly open to the outdoors. That's a zone with a high outdoor air exchange rate and air walls or other no mass walls. An EnergyPlus zone requires at least 6 surfaces that enclose a region of space. You need to think about the properties of those bounding surfaces to achieve your goal. |
2015-12-09 02:04:37 -0500 | commented answer | How do I enter in new space infiltration design flow rates in OpenStudio? Using 1.9.0 I am able to 'add' a Space Infiltration Design Flow Rate only bringing one in from a library and editing it on the Space Types grid view. The gist of this git issue suggests the problem and the intended solution. https://github.com/NREL/OpenStudio/is... Looking forward to this feature being implemented : ) |
