2022-02-16 14:55:31 -0500 | marked best answer | Is a .csv output file created when running EP in python plugin mode? I am running the python EnergyPlus plugin option to run PythonPluginCustomSchedule.idf example file provided in the energyplus 9.4 packages. Although Output: Variable object is populated in the idf there is no .csv file of the outputs created. Is there a way to enable that or is this option still not available? 2021-07-26 11:55:39 -0500 | marked best answer | How does EnergyPlus receive shortwave radiation values for the exterior energy balance? Hi all, In the EnergyPlus documentation, exterior short wave radiation explanation is quite vague https://www.energyplus.net/sites/defa... It says at a point in the description that. "αsol is calculated using procedures presented later in this manual and includes both direct and diffuse incident solar radiation absorbed by the surface face. This is influenced by location, surface facing angle and tilt, surface face material properties, weather conditions, etc." But never fully discussed in the documentation later on. Is there a source which explain how the shortwave radiation figures are calculated? Thank you in advance. |

Looking at the Engineering reference there is an explanation of using different models for the design day solar calculation. However, during an annual simulation, which values are used for I_b, I_h, and I_g values for the equation 5.67 in Engineering Reference? I have put the link to the equation here. https://bigladdersoftware.com/epx/doc... Does EnergyPlus run a model used in the design day calculation? or use the radiation data from the weather file? Like "Direct Normal Radiation", "Diffuse Horizontal Radiation"..? Id be grateful if you could clarify. |

2020-12-20 18:57:30 -0500 | marked best answer | Regarding the parsing errors in RUNTIME object arising when running FMUs created from EnergyPlus 9.3 idf An issue comes up when running the FMU created in a python environment. Firstly, the FMU is created in Python 2 environment. Once the FMU is created I use a Python 3 environment to run the FMU using conda. The issue is a parsing error related to the RUNPERIOD object of the IDF. file. When the FMU is run in PyFMI the error occurs. I wanted to inquire if there has been a solution proposed for this issue.
