Simplifying multi-zone building to single-zone

I am trying to create an energy model of a building that consists of multiple floors, thus multiple thermal zones. I'd like to know the problems or the number of inaccuracies that will result from such simplification. To what extent will the final result differ from a multi-zone representation?

Thanks.
