Hello, I'm working with one of the DOE/PNNL residential prototype buildings, downloaded in IDF form and simulated in E+. The building is built on a slab. When simulating, I get the following error:
Program Version,EnergyPlus, Version 9.3.0-baff08990c, YMD=2020.08.18 12:05,
Beginning Zone Sizing Calculations
BuildingSurface:Detailed="FLOOR_UNIT1", invalid Outside Boundary Condition
Object="SURFPROPOTHSDCOEFSLABAVERAGE". * ~~~ * no OtherSideCoefficients of that name.
* Fatal * GetSurfaceData: Errors discovered, program terminates.
...Summary of Errors that led to program termination: ..... Reference severe error count=1
..... Last severe error=BuildingSurface:Detailed="FLOOR_UNIT1", invalid Outside Boundary Condition Object="SURFPROPOTHSDCOEFSLABAVERAGE".
*** Fatal error -- final processing. Program exited before simulations began. See previous error messages.
*** EnergyPlus Warmup Error Summary. During Warmup: 0 Warning; 0 Severe Errors.
*** EnergyPlus Sizing Error Summary. During Sizing: 0 Warning; 1 Severe Errors.
*** EnergyPlus Terminated--Fatal Error Detected. 0 Warning; 1 Severe Errors; Elapsed Time=00hr 00min 0.33sec
Looking at the IDF, in the Thermal Zones and Surfaces section, subsection Building Surface:Detailed, the "Outside Boundary Condition" for one object is "GroundSlabPreProcessorAverage". The "Outside Boundary Condition Object" is blank. My understanding is that when the IDF is simulated, the Expand Objects application fills in the "Outside Boundary Condition Object" field. But it appears to be filling it in with an invalid value. There are no errors if "Outside Boundary Condition" is set to a value like ground, or outside. Any ideas on what is going on here/work arounds?
