BEopt heating retention fraction in minisplit

I am trying to model our cold-climate spec'ed minisplit system for a house in Fraser, Colorado but I wanted to ask some questions about the custom input fields within the BEopt minisplit option.

I am specifically confused about the effect of the "Heating Retention Fraction" in respect to the performance of my chosen minisplit system. Since my chosen system is designed to have high efficiencies at low temperatures, as I understand it that should decrease our heating load since it can be more efficient. However, when I implement a value of "one" in my model, the annual heating load jumps considerably. I was wondering if anyone would be able to offer some insight on what I might be doing wrong, or misunderstanding about the software.
