sensible heat transfer in soil

Hello

I am modeling green roof for my building. Is it possible to find the conduction heat transfer rate through the substrate? Also, I want to know the meaning of sensible soil heat flux, I mean the negative heat flux means the heat transfer is from soil to ambient? I found for both summer and winter it is negative. Is it true?

Sorry for asking too much question.

Cheers,
