Trying to add photovoltaics using OpenStudio SketchUp Plug In

I'm trying to add photovoltaics using OpenStudio SketchUp Plug In, and I am waiting for the surface to change like in (https://unmethours.com/question/15483/shading-created-by-pv-array-on-top-of-roof/), but it's not happening. Are there any requirements for the surfaces in order to add photovoltaics?
