Checking results using known metrics

This is a fairly broad question but I was wondering what sources and what metrics people were using to check their results, or benchmark their simulation results. I generally use EUI for the whole building and for each energy breakdown but I do it on instinct rather than with any known or researched values.

If anyone has any sources or uses different metrics I would love to know. This would apply to all types of buildings too not just commercial office buildings which is mostly what we model here.

Thanks.
