Hi everyone, I’m working on a model using OpenStudio 3.1.0 with the SketchUp plugin version 1.1.0, and I’m having trouble with how windows and doors are being displayed in the 3D Viewer.
Specifically, not all windows appear the same. Some show up as transparent (as expected), while others are opaque, even though they are all assigned as FixedWindow sub surfaces. This also happens in "Render by Construction" mode — some windows look correct, others don’t.
As for doors, when I uncheck “Show Windows and Doors” in the 3D viewer, only a few doors disappear, while most remain visible — same thing happens with some windows. It seems like only a small number of sub surfaces are recognized properly.
Here’s how I modeled it:
I created each space individually for each room (not as a full floor).
I did manual surface matching, because the floor plans differ a lot between floors.
I drew windows and doors using the Rectangle tool directly on surfaces, and then assigned the correct sub surface type (e.g., FixedWindow, Door).
For interior doors between two adjacent spaces, I drew a door on both spaces, in identical positions.
Then I matched them by setting the "Outside Boundary Condition" of Door #1 to be Door #2, because if I left it as a wall, it showed up as solid blue in "Render by Boundary Condition".
I also assigned thermal zones to all spaces inside the SketchUp plugin before exporting.
I thought the model was ready, but once I opened it in OpenStudio and used the 3D Viewer, I saw these inconsistencies with how windows and doors appear.
If anyone with more experience has the time and is willing to take a quick look at the model, I would really appreciate the help or any advice.
Thank you in advance!
