My building only need cooling (summer months) and it requires no heating (heating load should be zero). I have tried to give schedule 'always off' for heating, but it is still resulting in some heating load. how to turn off the complete heating component. If i hardsize the rated heating capacity to zero, OpenStudio is throwing an error.

You could try hard sizing the rated heating capacity and airflow to a very small number close to zero. This is a hack I have tried when attempting to "turn off" the HVAC without throwing an error.

You probably want to also hard size the airflow (for air based systems) close to zero, because you can get thermal conditioning (convection) from the supply fan (with the coil being "off"). This 1) expends electrical energy to power the supply fan and 2) could result in some unintended conditioning.

Have you tried changing your heating setpoint to a very low value so that the VRF system never sees a need for heating?
