Iv'e been looking into the python measures feature for OS 1.7. Is there a way to use virtual environments with this implementation, or is that a feature that will be added later down the road?

This would probably best be a question filed on the OpenStudio GitHub page. My understanding is that a specific version of Python is compiled into the OpenStudio CLI which is used to run the Python measures. I am not sure if it would be possible to use a different Python engine than the one compiled into the OpenStudio CLI. It might be possible to add paths to enable loading Python modules that are not built into the OpenStudio CLI. My suggestion would be to file an enhancement required at https://github.com/NREL/OpenStudio/is... and specify exactly what you would like to be able to do.
