setpoint manager symbol lost in OpenStudio

In the following instances I have observed that in the OpenStudio 1.8.0 HVAC schematic the setpoint manager symbol gets lost:

(1) If Control Variable is set to Maximum Temperature, the SPM symbol disappears, including the visual handle for deleting the setpoint manager.

(2) When opening an 1.4.0 osm-file with OpenStudio 1.8.0, in the plant loop schematic the symbol for a setpoint manager gets lost if Control Variable was set to Maximum Temperature in the 1.4.0 osm-file, although apparently the data associated with the setpoint manager have been read in.

Apparently this is a new bug which did not exist in previous version(s).

To help around this bug one can do the following:

(a) if you change the Control Variable setting back to Temperature, the setpoint manager symbol re-appears. If the visual handle for deleting the SPM is still missing, switch between the displays of HVAC loops and return to the original loop: now also the handle for deleting the SPM becomes visible, and you can delete the setpoint manager, if necessary.

(b) if you reset the Control Variable to Maximum Temperature (or other options), the setpoint manager symbol will again disappear, but the visual handle for deleting SPM may still remain visible.

In this way it is possible to do HVAC loop editing despite the bug.

That is weird, but I would just add a new setpoint manager to ensure that you don't have any errors when running the model. Does this happen even after you add another setpoint manager?

@Kyle Benne do you think this is just quirk in version translation somewhere between 1.4 and 1.8?

With OS 1.8.0, of course it is possible to insert a new setpoint manager at the node where the original setpoint manager resides. However, in this case OpenStudio will display an SPM symbol in the schematic and two setpoint managers at the same node stacked in the edit tab. If you now remove the setpoint manager symbol, the original setpoint manager without symbol is again displayed as shown in my screenshot.
