Buildings.Fluid.Geothermal.Borefields implement serial connection

I would like to change Buildings.Fluid.Geothermal.Borefields objects to implement serial or mixed serial/parallel connection of the boreholes. Where would I have to begin to understand the current implementation. Maybe someone already had a try? Is there some documentation?
