I am also beginner in simulation (thermal buildings, Type 56) and I have to say I am not happy with the the tutorials available for TRNSYS. And I was seraching around a lot and could not easy understandable material. The official tutorials are written in such a way that exeprts in the field might understand them but for beginners it is vey difficult.

For type 56 I found 2 good video tutorials in spanisch which are quiet comprehensive: Simulación energética de edificios 1 Simulación energética de edificios 2
