Outside Reveal Depth field not working in OS:WindowProperty:FrameAndDivider
It seems that the field "Outside Reveal Depth" has no effect in OS:WindowProperty:FrameAndDivider.
I have run multiple simulations changing this value with no change in the results.
In this thread: https://unmethours.com/question/8008/... it is said that this field was added to the openstudio in order to offset the OS:SubSurface vertices to model the additional shading provided by the outside reveal surface, but when I modify this Outside Reveal Depth I can't see any difference nor in the Zone Total Window Transmitted radiation neither in the subsurface vertices coordinates in the idf file.
@mapascual, an OpenStudioApp bug maybe? I opened a small office prototype OSM (already holding a frame & divider object), made sure it had valid outside reveal inputs and that it applied to all glazed sub surfaces. Like you, no differences in E+ results. Also opened the translated IDF: no offset in sub surface vertices vs their respective base surface vertices. No plane offset == no outside reveal in E+.
The App tutorial suggests that "During translation from OpenStudio Application to EnergyPlus, OS:SubSurface vertices are offset by this amount in order to model the additional shading provided by the outside reveal surface". Either it's a bug, or I'm doing something wrong ... but the vertices aren't offset. It's possible that it's not the App, but rather OpenStudio itself. Not sure, so I can't conclude it's an App bug at this stage. Hopefully developers can chime in. Might file an issue ...
For what it's worth, I manually offset sub surface vertices vs base surface vertices in the translated IDF. Now noticed expected differences in simulations results (without warnings in the .err file). In short, E+ seems to handle outside reveals just fine.
Filed an issue.
Thank you Denis!
