Convective heat transfer coefficient

Hey, It's been a while lurking here and reading as much as I can. However, haven't figured out yet how to set a constant convective heat coefficient value within the OS application. One might ask why would I set such a major variable (heat equation nonlinearity-wise) to a constant value? Well, the thermal regulation of construction in Morocco RTCM (page 22/52) uses a constant value (which is an aberration) but as a matter of comparison I seek to set the same hypothesis. I've used the Adaptive Convection Algorithm within my openstudio model settings, but the results in the form of energy usage for example (kWh/m²) using constant hc value in the TRNSYS software almost doubles the energy usage I find using Openstudio.

Hi, I came across this question while doing some research on EMS actuators, maybe you can set a constant convective heat coefficient using EMS or Python Plugin in EnergyPlus. The following two actuators might help.

  • Interior Surface Convection Heat Transfer Coefficient,[W/m2-K]
Exterior Surface Convection Heat Transfer Coefficient,[W/m2-K]
