How do I correctly verify Thermal Comfort Analysis results in EnergyPlus?
Hi, I usually run my analysis simply to accurately size AC systems, and consider results as satisfying if the unmet hours are below 5%. I now want to also prove that these rooms are also thermally comfortable according to the parameters available in EnergyPlus. In this case, I purposefully did not use dynamic clothing as I expect the building residents to use light summer clothing all year round.
From my understanding of the results, I can see that the occupants are not comfortable for 15 hours in the summer but are never comfortable in winter. As the climate in Bali is generally the same all year round, should I ignore the winter results? Or do the occupants need to be comfortable in both winter and summer to be counted as thermally comfortable? If so, what metrics do you suggest should I adjust besides clothing to achieve thermally comfortable all year round?
Thank you! Best regards, Hanif
