Sketchup file wont translate to openstudio file
I created a building in sketchup and want to perform energy modeling in Openstudio/Energyplus. However, when trying to save my sketchup file as .osm or .idf with the openstudio plugin the files are empty when opening in openstudio. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Also, I have an idf file that is almost good to use. But I cannot change it in openstudio. In openstudio app in the geometry tab -> editor there is no possibility to edit the geometry (cannot click on the new button).
Are you saving as a SketchUp file .skp or using the Openstudio extensions list to save as an Openstudio file .osm?
Hi,
Currently it is a SketchUp file (.skp) but I want to translate this to .idf file. Right now I use the Openstudio extension in SketchUp to do this. You can also to translate to .osm file with the extension but this does not work either.
Can you upload sceenshots?
Typically, you shouldn't be saving any openstudio geometry as a .skp file.
That's not the problem. I am not saving an openstudio geometry as an .skp file.
I made a model in sketchup. Therefore, it is a .skp file. So right now, I only have a building made in sketchup, saved as an .skp file. I want to perform simulations with this building, so I want to save this .skp file as an idf file. I tried to save the file, in sketchup, as an idf file with the openstudio plugin. But when saving, the file is empty when I open it in the openstudio application.
