The OpenStudio SketchUp plugin should launch automatically when you launch SketchUp. Are you seeing this at launch of SketchUp or are trying to load an OSM file? If you are opening an OSM make sure you are not using SketchUp's file open, but rather the "Load OpenStudio Model" button or menu item.

If you are doing that correctly and still seeing an issue let me know what version of SketchUp and what version of OpenStudio you are using, and what operating system.

Hi Yeah, I've been clicking on the 'Load OpenStudio Model" button in the Openstudio toolbar. Then I click on "Launch Openstudio" and as OpenStudio is launching, the error pops up prompting me to relaunch (which it never does) or close the program.

I am using Sketchup 8 OpenStudio version 1.4 I am on Windows 8 64bit

Thanks

So, you are not having problems loading an OpenStudio model into the SketchUp Plugin, but rather are having problems launching the OpenStudio app from the Plugin? I'll answer based on that assumption.

To follow up on launching the OpenStudio application from within the SketchUp Plugin, we didn't test 1.4 with Windows 8, but we did test Windows 8 with OpenStudio 1.5. Note that to upgrade to OpenStudio 1.5.0 would also require you to install SketchUp 2014. If you still see the error here, then maybe there is a file permissions issue? Below are steps to work around this using your current installation.

Using 1.4.0 try try the following steps. 1. Save the OSM in the SketchUp plugin using the "Save OpenStudio Model" button or menu item. 2. Launch the Stand alone OpenStudio application from your start menu (or some other way, other than from the SketchUp plugin button) 3. Load your OSM by using the "file" menu in the stand alone OpenStudio application.

Let me know if that doesn't work for you. If it doesn't work confirm if it doesn't work with any OSM, or just one in particular that you are working with. Then we can see if it is an issue with the OSM file or something else.

I tried opening the OSM from the stand alone OpenStudio application and the same thing happened.

I just installed both OpenStudio 1.5.0 and Sketchup 2014. When I try to open the OSM file by clicking 'Load OpenStudio Model' from the plugin's toolbar in Sketchup 2014, it says it needs to convert the OSM file to OpenStudio 1.5.0 from 1.4.0. And then, the same error pops up.

I gave up on my current computer and installed sketchup 8 and OpenStudio 1.4.0 on another computer running windows 7 and was able to open the same OSM file using the previous method without any problems.

Thanks for helping
