Thermal Energy Storage: missing features in OpenStudio

asked 2015-05-19 15:08:14 -0600

thermal storage, solar hot water and heat recovery in my view are important applications. Testing what is implemented in OpenStudio so far, however, with WaterHeater:Mixed, the following interfaces seem to be missing:

+ Source Side Inlet Node Name
+ Source Side Outlet Node Name

I have not found any means in OpenStudio to specify these nodes.

For thermal storage applications, more objects in OpenStudio would be desirable, such as:

+WaterHeater:Stratified
+WaterHeater:HeatPump
+ThermalStorage:Ice:Simple
+ThermalStorage:Ice:Detailed
+TemperingValve

Are there any plans to include more of these objects in future releases ? What's the support for these features among OpenStudio users ?

There may be an IDF measure for this.

The OpenStudio developers maintain a spreadsheet of the requested and planned HVAC system objects here. More general planned features are shown here.

The summaries of planned features are excellent! Does anyone know if there is something similar for E+ feature development?
