I have question in regards to greenhouse modelling with EnergyPlus

Hi all, I am a Ph.D. candidate working on designing a greenhouse for Southern Alberta, Canada using EnergyPlus. Does anyone have any experience in this regard? Is there any step-by-step reference that I can use?

@Shima.Ja have you already reviewed the other Unmet Hours posts that use the energyplus and greenhouse tags? There are only 11, but they may provide some guidance.

I did not look at the tags mentioned by Aaron, but...

Key elements of greenhouse models are:

  • Glazing: Old greenhouses use single pane, not sealed, glazing. The cold panes condense moisture in the winter, which freezes and seals the overlapped panes ... then melts when the sun is strong, etc.
  • evaporation from the watering systems (this has a cooling effect and can be approximated with the OtherEquipment object and a NEGATIVE design value.
  • Infiltration: It's probably significant in all designs, but especially significant for the single pane glazing design for old greenhouses
