Is there any chance that EnergyPlus has a bug and maybe the outside is switched with the inside in the construction menu?
Hi, i’m using the openstudio to simulate a building with two different designs regarding thermal inertia. To differentiate the thermal inertias I’m using the same construction, changing only the location of the insulation. For high termal inertia (HTI) I put the insulation on the outside, and for Low Inertia (LTI) I put the insulation near the inside . But when I run the program the results are switched: The Lower inertia responds slower to disconnecting the heating, and quicker to some solar radiation entering. I’ve alreay checked like 20 times that the two models are equal in everything except in the order of the layers. Is there any chance that EbergyPlus has a bug and maybe the outside is switched with the inside in the construction menu ? Or else why this is happening? Thank you,
@Mariana Vieira can you add images to your post, such as plots of the results that you're reviewing that make you think EnergyPlus has a bug? Also, you can use Google Drive, Dropbox, or something similar to store your two energy model files and then share a link to those files on Unmet Hours so that others can review the inputs.
I was not able to put the graphic, but now I did. Thank you, i'm going to attached my models too.
Which variable are you graphing?
The temperature of the room (y) as a functions of hours (x)
Are you positive you're actually putting the materials in the right order? Can you show either a screenshot of your constructions in the OSApp or the IDF snippet for Construction? When you look at your model, are your surfaces reversed maybe (do they have a pale aspect or a solid one?)
