can I get a free student license of Open Studio?

I believe you're looking for the OpenStudio Application -- the graphical user interface to create and edit OpenStudio models. You may have installed the OpenStudio Software Development Kit (SDK) -- the programming framework that makes changes to OpenStudio models. Either way, both of these tools are free to download and install for everyone -- you don't need a student license or anything like that.

Yes, thank you. After struggling through several more websites and blogs, I finally figured out that OpenStudio application is what I was looking for, not the general OpenStudio SDK release. I downloaded the application successfully and will now experiment.
